The CFC is a one-of-a-kind film festival based in Los Angeles. Not only do you make your own movie in a week, but you don’t have to do it alone: you get paired with another filmmaker with compatible strengths. Are you a writer in search of a cameraman? An editor looking for a director? Worry not, wallflowers. We’ll make the connection for you!

On Tuesday, April 9th, we release the Theme Quote meant to inspire this year’s movies. Over the next two weeks, you and your collaborators make one movie, and you help at least one other filmmaker with theirs. Then we screen the Challenge’s strongest entries in front of a packed house of industry members—and our esteemed judges—and hand out over $10,000 in cash and prizes!

Mission

It’s about who you know! The film industry relies on networking and collaboration more than any other. So why do so many festivals ask filmmakers to create alone? Those lucky enough to get their work screened can make connections, but what about all the guys and gals who bust their humps to make a movie and get left in the cold?

That’s why we founded the CFC. We’re filmmakers too, and we know how important networking really is. We want to build an environment all about collaborating—not just making a movie, but meeting other filmmakers; and not just meeting them, but working with them. The end result? More connections, more opportunities, and more movies!

History

The CFC’s a toddler now! We introduced the festival last year, and it was a hit. Our filmmakers got their films screened in the packed-to-capacity Harmony Gold Theater in Hollywood, met our illustrious judges—including famed critic Kurt Loder, King of Queens creator Michael J. Weithorn, and writer/producer Tim Minear (American Horror Story, Firefly)—and walked away with over $8,000 in their pockets. Sweet deal!

With all last year’s successes, we’re looking to expand for year two. Stay tuned right here for more details!
